windows explorer folders open in new window

When I am viewing Windows Explorer and double-click on a folder on the right
side of the view, the folder opens in a new window instead of just in the
same window. I checked the folder options and I have "Open each folder in
the same window" checked. Does anyone know how to get it fixed? Thanks

Open My Computer or Explorer - click Tools - Folder Options - under Folder
Options - click File Types - under File Types select "(None) Folder" and
click Advanced button.

Here check which entry is your default entry (bold entry) to view folder. It
should be Explorer. Do not set it to open. Just click on the empty area of
the same window (Actions window, do not select any entry explorer or open)
and click Set as Default. None of both action should be default.

This will surely help you, let us know!

That's what my folder options is set up as and it still does not work. How
in the world can this happen? It wasn't like this before and I would THINK
it it's easy enough to change one way, it would be easy enough to change it
back.

Any other ideas???? It's very annoying when Windows doesn't let you do stuff.

I think you're not doing it in right way. Goto File Types and under Folder
Options. Here select "{None} - File Folder" and click "Advanced" button. You
will see two entries in Edit File Type's "Actions" box. One of them will be
highlighted and surely it will "explorer". That is why when you double-click
on a folder in explorer it "Explorer" the folder instead of opening it in the
same window. "open" action is also not suitable. In the same "action" window
click the next empty line down under the "open" action and then click "Set
Default". Means, none of both action should be default. The Default behavoir
should be none as default.

Hope you understand, let us know!
