Windows Explorer opening folders in new window?

O

Overlord

Hi all.
Winders XP Pro SP 2
Clicking on a folder opens the folder in a new separate window.
Tried changing it. Tools/folder options/browse folders is clicked to
open in the same folder..... but it doesn't.

Regedit;
hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\advanced
SeparateProcess value is (0)

Still happens tho.

hkey_classes_root\folder\shell\explore\command
value is
%SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe /SAME, /e,/idlist,%I,%L

hkey_classes_root\folder\shell\open\command
value is
%SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe /idlist,%I,%L

{WITHOUT} /SAME

Anyone know where in the registry or options I can force explorer to
open folders in the same window? It's getting real tiresome to end up
with instances of explorer open all over the place.

I can click folders on the left side in the tree view and they'll open
on the right side in the same window but that's also tedious to me.

HELP, MR. WIZARD!

Hi Kurt,

Folder Options> General (tab)> Browse folders
click Restore Defaults, and select this:
(*) Open each folder in the same window

(Set Tasks and Click options you like also.)

Click Apply.

Folder Options> View (tab)> Advanced settings
Click Restore Defaults, and this should be UN-checked:
[ ] Launch folder windows in a separate process
(Modify other options as you like also.)

click OK - That should do it.

BTW: With multiple child windows, if you hold shift key when you close the
lowest sub-folder, all the parent folders will close also.

(You're welcome. :)
