Ok, i dont know what the issue is but when i go into a directory with movies
or even on the desktop and hover over a movie it freezes that window and the
taskbar... i Ctrl+Alt+Del and Drwtsn32.exe is there.. i closed that debug
program out like always and it just refreshes the explorer.exe or if i should
say reloads because all open directory windows are gone.

Im kinda narrowing this down to being a codec problem or something.

The MMCompView utility displays the details of all installed multimedia
components (Codec and ActiveX filters) and allows you to disable and enable
specific components.

Hey thanks for the repy on my topic but i found out theres a registry string
that will fix the problem with avi files in explorer.exe and all you do is
follow below.

Problem: Some .avi files cause explorer.exe to crash. How can I fix that?

Answer: This answer is for experts only. Click on Start, then click on Run
and type regedit and press enter. Then navigate to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\
If there is a key in there with the name DivX in it, delete it. Now navigate
to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shellex\
If there is a key called PropertyHandler in there, delete the value
(Default). Then it will appear as an empty value. Finally close the registry
editor and reboot the computer. Now .avi files should not cause explorer.exe
to crash anymore.

I just removed the PropertyHandler (Default) value and restarted and
everything is perfect.. no freeze anymore.

Yep that's a known solution for .avi files. You indicated you thought it
was a codec problem, that's why I gave you that link. It would have helped
if you included the fact that it was .avi files that were the problem. The
devil is in the details, or so they say.

Glad it's fixed for you and thanks for posting the resolution.
