Windows Explorer Crashing Randomly

D

I am using an Asus G1S with Vista Home Premium 32 installed. I've had my
computer since June of last Year. It's been working perfectly fine up until
about a week ago. Windows Explorer started crashing multiple times and
randomly. There has been no reason for it and I can't duplicate it.
Sometimes it's after I finish watching a video file in Media Player Classic,
sometimes when coming back from sleep mode. I've tried reading for solutions
and can't find anything similar to my problem. I've reported and searched
for fixes every time but to no avail.

This is the Error report I am receiving.

I would try using system restore to go back to more than a week ago since
you've identified the problem stated then. It sounds like some other
program has been installed that is running in explorer's process space and
is crashing it.

Well I went to go try system restore but the farthest one back is from the
20th before installing windows updates. About the time the problem started
was when I did disk clean up and defrag and I got rid of all the previous
system restore points. During the defrag though it stopped midway through so
I had to close it out. Sometime around that either before or after was some
updates.

Do you want me to go back before doing the updates just to see if it helps
at all. In other words could it have been from the updates or my disk
cleanup/defrag session?

I haven't had a crash since that one yesterday about 22 hours ago. just as
an update.

Updating everyone on the status of my problem, Bob. How bout instead of
harassing me about the relevance of my post in MY HELP thread, you try and do
something productive and actually TRY to HELP me Bob. Stop being a whining
Willy and do something that may fix my problem

4:00 put my computer into sleep mode. Came back at 7:00 and the first thing
that happened after logging in was explorer crashing.

I've also noticed that each time Windows Explorer crashes I am getting a
"Windows Problem Reporting". Here is the information on that.

Anyone have any idea what to do to try and fix this issue. I'll run the
oldest system restore here in a bit and update on here whether it has helped
or not. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated though. Thanks.

Shortly after my last post on February the 27th. I did a system restore back
to the 20th. No problems the rest of the night, and no problems on the 28th.
But today I put the computer too sleep at 12:30 and came back at 3:10. When
I logged in the first thing that happened was the explorer crashing. I sent
another report in as well. Like what I had reported last time there was a
problem trying to report my explorer problem. "Windows Problem Reporting"
"WERCWEvent"

This is getting pretty annoying, has no one thought of anything to fix this
or any idea what the hell is happening. I've been keeping it up todate on
updates, I've been reguraly scanning it with Anti-Virus, Spyware removal
tools etc...

Suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated

I don't think it's a sleep mode problem though. Because I close the lid
(sleep mode) all the time. Sometimes when going to class or when I'm at
practice. For instance the 28th I had practice and class two separate times
when I was gone for more then 2 hours. Yet explorer didn't crash on start
up. I probably put it to sleep on 4 or 5 occasions on the 28th without any
problems. So either it's an extremely inconsistent sleep error, or something
else. Not to mention it has crashed when I was finished watching video files
as mentioned in the first post, unless they were two completly separate
incidents. Because originally that was the main reason I posted on here
because the I was crashing around the time of the video player, it's just
that recently it's been on start up. Like I said very inconsistent.
