Hi...
I don't know if this is the correct NG because the problem is in Windows
Esplorer 8
Please redirect me if not.....
Every time I download a file from the net, and right click in the save-as
dialog box, the windows explorer crashes and have to be restarted or shut
down.
I am using Window Vista ultimate Norwegian edition with all updates.
This started to happen a few week ago.
It happens every time.
What can be wrong?

Try to think back and see if you can remember if you installed any 3rd party
software prior to when this problem started to occur. I had Windows
Explorer stopping for no apparent reason whenever I opened Computer Explorer
view or even Control Panel.
You should check Control Panel -> Uninstall a program and sort the list by
the date they were installed. Looking at it may jog your memory as to when
exactly it all started.
I googled around for similar problems and I came across someone mentioning
ShellExView and disabling 3rd party shell extentions and another person who
had problems with Windows stopping and restating, pointing to a corrupt
video file.
In my case Windows Explorer was trying to create a thumbnail from a video
file that had gone corrupt. Windows does not report a problem with what
file when it does this. It simply puts up a message say Explorer has
stopped. I couldn't located the video file at first or what was the cause
initially. Only that it stopped after I used ShellExView to disable the
Video Thumbnail Extractor. I eventually found the video file that was the
source of this problem and deleted it and re-enabled Video Thumbnail
Extractor.
No more Explorer stopping, when I went to open Computer.
Another time I ran into this problem, I had installed Broadcom's WIDCOMM 6.1
Bluetooth drivers. It turned out to be really buggy especially with Service
Pack 2 for Vista installed which has improved Bluetooth support and broken
the drivers. I downloaded WIDCOMM 6.3 today and testing it. It's working
great, I can play MP3s or videos on the LG Dare cell phone and it comes out
through my computer's speakers over a Bluetooth connection. It has other
features but I haven't tested them all out yet.
