Windows Explorer and columns...

Hi...

Can't find a NG committed to Windows Explorer i particular, so if this is
the wrong MG, please redirect me....

How do I change the columns in Windows Explorer to a set of columns of my
own choice permanently?

Kind regards

Set it the way you want. Organize/Layout, enable the menu bar. Then
View/Choose Details. Once set, click Tools/Folder Options/View tab, "apply
to folders".
Then, how do you stop it reverting to whatever Vista thinks is
best, on a pretty random basis?

Thank you Rick R. :)
I've tried that method before, but it didn't stick.
It seems to do that now....

Now, in Vista and going to WX customizing the general appearance for
all directories is a mess. I get thumbnails where I don't want or
need them. I get the damn rating stars I have zero interest in. It
is as if you have to set up what you want to see in every directory
and there is no global option to set set up your default appearance
for all directories. (One of these days I'll have to start using the
term 'Folder' instead of 'Directory'.) I basically want 'Details'
showing in all the Folders period but this either doesn't stick in
some folders or it isn't global as I go around to other folders and
forget which ones I set 'Details' in.

The solution offered here worked for me -
