Windows did not load your roaming profile error message

I'm getting the following error when my users log on. If you click ok
the profile is loaded fine without a problem.

"Windows did not load your roaming profile and is attempting to log you
on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied
to the server when you logoff. Windows did not load your profile
because a server copy of the profile folder already exists that does
not have the correct security. Either the current user or the
Administrator's group must be the owner of the folder. Contact your
network administrator."

I have checked the permissions and they all seem ok. The only thing
that has changed is the ownership of the files to administrator and
i've set them back to the owner now. The profiles are still on the win
2k server and they can be access if you type in the path. All clients
are win xp logining onto w2k server

Really strange, anyone help me out?

Thanks

What are they? If you say "they seem ok" all we can do
is say "well that is not the problem" (IF you are correct.)
The only thing

How did you "set them back"? (It is actually pretty difficult
to "give ownership".
The profiles are still on the win
2k server and they can be access if you type in the path. All clients

So this same user can access the files over the network
when logged onto the domain from the workstation?
(Without supplying any additional credentials?)

If the files are truly available, then my thoughts go to two
possibilities:

1) The user properties are set somewhere DIFFERENT
than you think (and are checking)

2) The file server is SLOW so that the profile is timing
out.
Really strange, anyone help me out?

I've just created a new user and the profile works fine. It's just the
other accounts.

All of the folder have the everyone group set to full control. I know
it shouldn't be setup like this in the long term for security reasons
but just need to rule things out.

Don't think i have changed the ownership back. Cant seem to do it.
Any tips?

I have recreated a new folder that is owned by the user and that works
without the above message.

Looks like it is to do with the ownership. Can anyone help me change
the ownership of the folders

Ownership is NOT technically part of this -- permissions
are all that count.

What about the SHARE? Did you mess with those permissions
too?

AND remember, if you can access the files (READ, WRITE, CREATE)
while logged on as the user then permissions are not the issue either.
(Unless you separately authenticate as someone else.)

On the share, the permissions are set to everyone with full control,
read, write set to allow.

Yes i can also read, write and create files in my profile

Yes i can also read, write and create files in my profile

Then users have effective full control of their own files
in any case -- even with DenyAll (aka No Access) the
owner can change permissions.

And eror :

"Windows Cannot find the local profile and is logging with a temporary profile. Change you make to this profile will be lost when you log off “
