Roaming profile problem

D

Dou Lowe

I manage a small (50 user) network with four Win2000 servers. All the users
are local profiles, and I want to look into switching to roaming profiles.
But I'm having a problem converting my own profile to roaming: when I
right-click My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Settings, then click Change
Type for my Domain profile, the option to change to Roaming is greyed out.
I've tried logging under a different account that is a local administrator.
I've checked local policy to make sure roaming profiles are allowed. I've
set the profile path in AD Users & Computers.

What else could cause this to be grayed out?

Do a copy to where you want to place the roaming profile and then point your
profile to that location. The link below explains how to do this by copying
for another user but you can just repoint your profile to the new copied
location.

I create a location to store the roaming profile, and edit profile location
in user account properties to point to this UNC share. The profile is now
roaming and it will show as such
