i have the following message when I turn my computer on:

application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. A problem caused windows
defender to stop. Restart or seach help and support on how to start a service
manually.


what do?.. I did help and support but it didnt help me.. please help

This is what I wrote if you scroll down to an earlier query on this page.

I have the answer and solution. The version that we have been using has
expired. Go to the microsoft.com download page and under Windows Defender
you will see the notice that the older version has expired on December 31st.
To add the newer one I uninstalled my old non-working version and then
installed the new one with no problems.

I had the same problem, and I think I found the solution. Apparently this
version of Defender expired last night. What I did was go to "Microsoft
Update", and in the "search" window typed in Windows Defender. That led me
to another window which was the Windows Defender Home Page. Toward the
bottom of that page is a link to update Defender. I downloaded that, and all
seems to be back to normal. Hope this helps.

I completed your suggestion below and then rebooted computer but the same
problem came up " application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. A problem
caused windows defender to stop. Restart or seach help and support on how to
start a service manually." any suggestions on what to do now

I have same problem when MS disabled my Defender beta version which
they downloaded automatically - HELP

Defender was never 'downloaded automatically' anywhere.
That is something you must download and install.

As for if you are having trouble with defender - you probably need to grab
the latest version from the web page and install it. Yours is likely
expired.
