Windows Defender Update

I am using Wndows XP SP2 and Windows Defender Update Beta2 installed.
When I open the Windows Defender it informs me that "Windows Defender
Definitions have not been updated for 16 days". I do the updating and the
program informs me that Windows Defender Update Beta2 is up to date etc.
etc.
Yet, the next time I open the Windows Defender it informs again me that
"Windows Defender Definitions have not been updated for 16 days".
Please comment and advise.

I am also having the SAME Problem and ALL of my Updates are in place as I
have Automatic Updates turned on, and I also check manually twice a week to
make sure that there is nothing more to Update. I still get the same message,
and Windows Defender is telling me that it has been 3 days. I can run a Quick
Scan which I do twice a day anyhow, and a Full Scan once a week, and I am
still getting the message. I ran a Scan this morning, and about 2 hours later
I went and done another Scan just to see if I got the message again, and
there it was there again, same message. Am I doing anything wrong, and if I
am, what is it. I have been all over Microsoft and cannot ind the answer i
need. Thank you in Advance for any Info you can provide.

Are you running a registry cleaner, say, CCleaner? In the past, running
such a cleaner with too aggressive settings seems to have this result.

The other fix has been to do a repair of Windows Defender, via control
panel, add or remove programs, Windows Defender, change, repair.
