New version or not?

Hi,

Both my systems are telling me today that there is a new version of Windows
Defender available for download (Defender Icon shows message symbol and
message is on main Defender start screen). I click download, and get the
Defender home page, where all I see is the old Beta2 thich I'm already
running.

I have Version 1.1.1051.0, Engine 1.1.1481.0 and Sig 1.14.1525.2 on one
machine (XP), and my x64 Win2003 machine has the same also, though the 64-bit
version.

To be clear, this isn't a definitions update, those I get on a regularl
basis via Windows Update. Is there a new release or not? Is the link just not
updated on the Microsoft site yet?

Thanks,

Wayne

Definition Version 1.14.1518.10

Hopes this helps.

Ok so where do we obtain this update? Or did microsoft just presume we'd
reinstall Defender 2 all over again?

What are the changes in this upgrade? Why should I install it? Does it
contain spyware to report my activities back to microsoft? I didn't find any
information in the WD pages.
Thanks.
