Windows Defender startup error.

I can't seem to install Beta 2 of Windows Defender. The installation stops
with
error 1920, (can not start windows defender service. Check to make sure you
have
sufficient privileges to start the service). Hummm. All my other services
start
and stop.

Anyways, I am the administrator, the only one using my Windows XP Pro Sp2
machine with all the latest updates installed. Virus scan and malware scans,
negative.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx,
Moe

Hello Moe,

Have you disabled startup of other services on this system? RPC is the only
dependency for Windows Defender service.

Hi Engel,

The only service I believe I've disabled is the indexing service. When I
click on dependency for RPC there are quite a few listed. Are you saying all
of these should be enabled?

This is too much.. I've set everything to Manual that was not already set to
Authomatic and still the same problem. I rebooted and still the same error
message appears when installing. I don't know what else to do to debug this
problem.
