WINDOWS DEFENDER PROGRAM ERROR

I get an error application notice on my computer when I sign in that says,
"Windows Defender. Application failed to initialize. A problem cause Windows
Defender to start. To start, restart your computer or search 'Help and
Support' to start your service manually."

I have restarted my computer but the problem is still not resolved. Can
anyone help? Thanks.

Most likely your "Defender" was the Beta version which expired 12/31/2006.
You can go to Microsoft and download the new version but you must be running
XP or newer operating system.

Hi,
Uninstall the present Defender and download the most recent windnows defender
from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Also do you have Anti-virus Installed, turn the AV OFF when you do the
installation.

and post on the Web:
