Error:

Windows Defender: Application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. A problem
caused this program's service to stop. Start the service, restart your
computer or search Help & Support for how to start a service manually.

I want to COMPLETELY remove Windows Defender. How man I do it?

Hi,

You can't remove it completely, you can only disable it. Check the event
viewer as to the causes of why the service stops.

Why can't I remove it. I've totally removed it from customers computers in
XP. It caused nothing but problems in XP, and I don't want it in my vista
computer. I'll get rid of it!

Hi Mick,

In XP, it was an after-market installation, not so in Vista. Here it is a
part of the installed OS. Disabling it is sufficient if you do not want your
clients using it (but I hope you are providing some other solution for
them). Keep in mind too that with XP, Windows Defender was in a beta state
for the majority of its existence - ie: not fit for general consumption.

I see no notice of this error in event viewer.

It was actually disabling it that CAUSED this problem..
