Windows Defender Performance Report

I wonder if I am the only person who is not having any problems with Windows
Defender.

I installed it about 2 weeks ago. The program has been performing great.
Install no problems, Auto Updates no problems, Schedules no problems, and
scanning No problems. Quick Scan takes about 11 minutes and Full Scan takes
about 25 minutes.

Hardware: Dell Dimension 8300 P4 3.2 Ghz , 1.5 Ghz ram, 120 Gig Sata
HardDrive with 90 Gig space left on drive after program and data currently on
the drive.

O/S and some of the software: Windows XP Home with sp2, Office 2003,
Outlook 2003, Norton Internet Security 2006, Webroot SpySweeper 4.5.9 709,
Webroot Window Washer 5, IE6 6.0.2900.2180 xpsp_sp2, and many other programs.

Internet Connection Type: High Speed DSL @ 3.0Mbs (Hardwired)

Scan results: Windows Defender no problems found. SpySweeper, same thing,
no problems found.

Note: I never have but one of these program running at one time. Before
even starting another spy scanning program, I shut the other down, not just
exit, but stop the services also.

Back to my question. Is there anyone else that is not having any problems
with Windows Defender?

Most users are not having problems, else my fingers would be lossing their
fingerprints.

Thanks for the post--it's always nice to see the success stories. Most
folks who come to the groups come for help, so you see a pretty one-sided
representation.

I haven't had any problems either since I got a good install on the 3rd try
after reading the updated release notes. Scans OK; Updates OK; Does not
interfere with downloads or zip files; cleaning ability: unknown factor.
Fortunately I have not had to find out yet. Once all these installation
problems get resolved I hope detection and cleaning become a more central
topic. Every problem I thought Defender was causing turned out to have some
other source.

Hi Frank,

I haven`t had any major probs with this prog also. Installation was
uneventful, updates take without a hitch, real time protection seems to be
doing its job and scans now take place successfully. Like Old Rebel, have
never had to try it in ernest because I`m very careful about where I go on
the internet. If I had a spare machine I would willinglly put it through its
paces.

After a slight hicup in downloading all is now running perfectly.
That is on this computer.XP sp2.
On my other computer W2000,it won't open.
I have posted on the subject earlier.

Great! I know it is detecting and cleaning more on the rather small number
of boxes with actual problems I've installed it on. However, I also know it
is missing some stuff on some of those same boxes!

I haven't had any problems either and installed Windows Defender on four
computers.
