Windows Defender Error:0x8050800f

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong newsgroup but I can't find anything
related to Defender. Any help would be appreciated!!

When I schedule Defender to run at two, three or four o'clock on any day I
get the following message:Windows Defender encountered an error:0x8050800f.
An unanticipated problem occurred. Install available updates and try the
program again.

I can run the program at any tine of the day or night manually with no
problem and all the soft is kept up to date at all times. I still cannot
run a scheduled scan!

I'm running windows x p Service pack 2 home edition.

Defender version 1.1.1051.0

You are correct on two things in the last sentence.

1.) You are sorry.
2.) This is the wrong group.
Any help would be appreciated!!

Really, then the best advise is to uninstall the Beta software from
your system. There problem solved.

Exactly how are you scheduling Windows Defender?
It's best to set the scan schedule within the Windows
Defender program.

Go to Start > Programs > Windows Defender,
click on Tools > General Settings and then set
your scan schedule and click Save.

And better still...would be to disregard arrogant posts to sincere
questions.......
At this time there is no NG for "Defender" so a post in winxp.general seems
ok to me

Microsoft has separate newsgroups for Windows Defender Beta2 support and comments. This happens to be not one of them.

See http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/newsgroups/default.mspx

Also see the below groups
