Windows Defender Blue Screens when i try to remove

My windows defender is working fine when it comes to identifying problems,
but then EVERY time i try to remove something, whether it just one issue or
two-three problems my computer blue screens and dies. I am running the most
current version and old ones are removed. I don't have this problem with any
other spyware removers, and they can remove the critical items just fine. any
suggestions?

Go with Engel; it can't hurt anything. However, the blue screen of death
smacks of something gone haywire when Windows Defender was installed. If
Engel's suggestions don't work, try uninstalling Windows Defender. Check to
see that no folders with the name "Windows Defender" exist after the
uninstall. You can use Microsoft search to verify. Delete them if they
exist - should be under Program Files and Application Data/Microsoft. Now
run the Live OneCare Broom Cleanup again and then install the latest version
of Windows Defender. Should be V 1.1.1593.0

BTW, all the above may be a moot issue if you are using Windows 2K. Future
support is short in duration and I believe V 1.1.1593.0 doesn't support 2K.
