Windows Defender Error Screen

Kenporick

Hello,
This screen pops up every 5 or 6 seconds...

*********************************************************
Windows Defender Warning

Review harmful or potentially unwanted software

Windwos Defender detected programs that might compromise your privacy of
damage your computer.

Name Alert
level
BrowserModifier:Win32/Fotomoto High

Remove All Review
Ignore
********************************************************

I click Remove All but each time it pops back up after 5 or 6 seconds...

I guess I'm wondering why Defender sees it and offers a removal choice yet
doesn't actually get rid of it...
Any help will be greatly appreciated...
Thanks
Kenporick

Hello Kenporick.

Please always state what OS you're using as it does make a difference -

So does the same thing happen when you reboot into Safe Mode to then
eradicate the pest?

What changed in your system shortly before the problem occurred? Knowing
about a setting change or added software or hardware may be helpful in
solving the problem.

I quote Stu--a regular contributor here:

There is an excellent BHO available - `McAfee Site Advisor

` which will give you fair warning when you are about to visit a dangerous
site. When you search Goggle/MSN/Yahoo all links are highlighted in a color
code according to danger levels. If you see red for example - don`t even go
there. If, on the other hand, you are just surfing the unobtrusive button
will give you fair warning by changing to the appropriate color.

There is also a reporting mechanism of dubious sites which are then
investigated and added to the database. BTW its free and I have no financial
interest;)

If you are running SP2, open IE--->Tools--->Manage Add-ons, and uncheck any
BHO's that you don't recºgnize.

Download the Trial version of Superantispyware Pro (SAS) OR the Free version
:

<http://www.superantispyware.com/supe....html?rid=3132>
Download the anti-spyware program from the above link, install it, UPDATE
it, then scan your computer.

The best way to scan your computerfor anything like this(spyware or viruses)
is in Safe Mode.

Hit F-8 at startup, go into safe mode, scan, remove problem, then start
normally.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

The malware is being detected by real time protection. You could report to
Microsoft the "Remove All" problem. I would boot in safe mode without
Networking, browsers closed and run a full WD scan.
