Windows Critical Updates

I've never downloaded the critical updates & hot fixes for
windows xp, so i have a quick question if anyone knows.
When you download these updates; Can you save them to a
Temp location or disk?

Cause if you ever have to format it would be a big problem
having to download all the critical updates and fixes once
again for win xp.

Thanks

The most reliable way to install is from Windows Update. Doesn't take that
long.

Hi Mike,

But when you go to the windows update and choose to
download, do you have an option to save to a location or
does it just automatically install into windows.

Even during the best of times with broadband, all the critical updates
take a little while to download, not mention that most people are still
on dial-up, and this ain't the best of times to be downloading anything
from Windows Update!

When you download and let them install the actual downloaded file (an
..exe file) is placed in Temporary Internet Files. You can then copy
these away to some other folder against a possible need to re-use them
