I am trying to add a printer that is on my network, windows XP is the host
computer, to my lap top Vista. I get the error "Cannot connect to printer.
Operation could not be completed error x000000d."

I used to be able to print to this printer from my lap top, but something
happened to the network and I couldn't find the host computer. So I changed
the name and then I could share files from the host computer. But now I can't
print anymore.

So I removed old printers. Added new print driver for my printer. And then
tried to add the printer but get the above error. I followed suggestion of
article 947234 in the microsoft database, don't know if I did it right or
not, but it didn't work. Still got the error.

I also read some other suggestions of making the printer a local printer,
but I don't understand how to do that. So if you could give me more detailed
instructions that would be helpful.

You may try to add local printer first and then remap it as network printer.
This search result may help too.
