Let me think

ok...i really hope someone can figure this out...aero was one of the main
reasons i bought vista

there must be an easier way than to buy a new video card...cant i just
upgrade the one i have?

With the integrated graphics system, you need to ensure you've allocated the
full amount of RAM that it can use (128MB should be what yours allows.) Do
this in the BIOS setup.

Since this is taking RAM from system use, be sure you have enough RAM
installed. Your machine probably came with 512MB - take away the video
usage and you barely have enough to run XP decently. You can go up to 2GB in
your box - you'll need it.

Oops, just found this:
~~~~~~
GMA 900
This IGP is incapable of running Windows Vista's Aero interface, even though
it is certified as DirectX 9 compliant. This inability is caused by the lack
of a WDDM driver for the chipset. This is apparently due to the lack of a
"hardware scheduler" in the GMA chipsets. [25]
It does look like you can add a PCI Express video card, which could give you
Aero capability.
You need to by a new video card. There are lotsssss to choose from. Let
your budget and the purpose of the computer narrow down the selection.
Since this is a hardware question, your best bet for good advice is on the
Dell forums:
Lots of helpful people there who've done what you need to do.
so...what exactly do i need to buy, and will this make it work for sure?
