Aero theme won't work - Vista Ultimate

K

Ken Isaacson

Vista Ultimate

New machine, with the following video card: 256MB ATI RADEON HD 2400 Pro
Graphics w/DVI and TV Out

I can find the Aero theme in Windows/Resources/Themes, but the Aero theme
does not appear as an option when trying to choose a theme. FWIW, in my
display settings, Color Quality is set to 32 bit. I'm not at the machine
now, so I can't remember what the resolution is set at, but it's at the
highest setting (at least 1440X900, but I think even higher).

Another peculiarity, on my notebook, which is running Vista Business, Aero
doesn't appear as an option either, but Aero seems to be active. I say this
because the Windows Flip 3D works. That's part of Aero, isn't it?

Thanks.

Usually when Aero disappears on my Vista Business PC, I find that DWM is
stopped.
It should be in your running process list. If it's not, go to your service
list and if it's there,
start it and set it to automatic.

Have you ever seen working Flip3D when DWM is stopped :p?
I'm not guarantee my link help him but it is nothing to lose if he read
it also...and you don't know whats help him

I didn't say that your link wouldn't help him. Only that the DWM
thing is not mentioned. As to the Flip3D thing, in his initial post,
he reports 2 problems. One on his machine running Vista Ultimate
that sounds like Aero doesn't run and the second on his laptop
that sounds like Aero is active but not listed as an option.
