Windows 2K Failure wiht a Spanned Volume

Hello,

I have a server that has a local c: partition, a E Drive and F drive on a
SAN. The Edrive is approx 1tb and is a spanned volume across a set of two
logical drives on the SAN. I am wondering if we have an OS failure, when I
rebuild the server, will all of the data stil reside on the spanned volume.

Thanx in advance

I don't know if SAN disks are any different, but on regular hard disks the
spanned volume would be fine. NT4 stored information about spanned, striped
and raided volumes in the registry, but since Win2000 this kind of
information is stored on the disks themself.

You might, however, need to "Import foreign disks" in the manner that is
described in this MS Knowledge Base article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=222189

Reinstalling your OS would technically be the same thing as moving a volume
to another machine.

Best regards

Bjorn
