Hi

I am thinking of using .asp for my development tool. I searched microsoft website and discover that I can use Windows 2003 Server and mdac. However, when I look into the mdac system requirement, mdac 2.7 did not mention about windows 2003. Can I use mdac 2.7 on Windows 2003 Server? What is the use of MDAC? Pls advise. Thanks.

Hello,

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) is a collection of components that
is used to provide database connectivity on Microsoft Windows operating
systems. MDAC is a ubiquitous technology, and it is likely to be present on
most Windows systems.

By default, MDAC is included as part of Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft
Windows 2000, and Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me). A number of
other products and technologies also include or install MDAC. For example,
the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 both
include MDAC, and some MDAC components are present as part of Microsoft
Internet Explorer even if MDAC itself is not installed. MDAC is also
available as a stand-alone technology.

231943 INFO: Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) Release History
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=231943

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 contains core Data Access
components such as the Microsoft SQL ServerT OLE DB provider and ODBC
driver. This redistributable installer for the MDAC 2.8 release installs the
same Data Access components as Microsoft Windows Server 2003. MDAC 2.8 is
shipped with windows 2003.

Thank You.
