If you want it to participate as a Server and not a DC just join the domain.
If you want it to be a Domain Controller then you need to prepare the
domain. Here is an article link that will help.
If Exchange is installed make sure you follow this before runnign the ADPREP

No need to make any special thing to make a W2K3 member server of an W2K
domain.
In case that what you do is to add a W2K3 server as a domain controller, you
will have to upgrade the schema, so windows 2000 can "understand" W2K3
schema.
