windows 2000 will not close down

I recently installed some updates, realone player and
windows media player and now windows keeps restarting
itself. I have uninstalled windows media player but this
has not helped. I am also unable to discover any viruses
having run Nortons Antivirus
 
check ACPI, or APM driver.
If your PC use ACPI,
Update bios, and make sure all the your device(NIC,Video,Sound, etc) are compatible with ACPI.
If your PC use APM,
Open Control panel > Power options > APM
uncheck Advanced Power Management.
