Windows 2000 Std. Print

We have a 2K server that has printers setup via standard tcp/ip ports. An
application actually controls them and that's why they aren't setup via our
print server. On Sunday, we installed a bunch of Windows updates that we
were behind on. Now, anytime we try to print a test page we get an error
saying "Can't create print job". Have any of the latest Windows 2000 server
patches like the SP4 rollup 1 given issues with printing? We installed 26
patches and it is a server that I can't reboot frequently. Any help to
resolve either the printing issue or find out which patch it could have been?

It is out document and imaging software, but really the actual document
viewer uses that software. We can't even print a test page from the printer
folder anymore, which shouldn't even take the software into account. I just
wanted to include that information so that nobody suggested we set the
printers up via a print server and attach to it. Because of this third-party
software, this isn't possible. Any printer we directly set up via a standard
tcp/ip port doesn't work. Also, we are now seeing that sometimes opening the
printers folder hangs until we stop and start the print spooler service.

ok so let me get this straight...you need this printer software because of
this 3rd party application, right?
aside from this 3rd party application, can you setup a printer through
standard tcp/ip port and do a test page?
i know this won't work with your application, but looking to see if general
printing works natively with windows to try to narrow down possibilites

The 3rd party software doesn't come into play. I just included it in the
post so that nobody suggested setting up the printers via a print server
instead of tcp/ip. If I go into our printer folder currently and select a
tcp/ip printer's properties and click on Print Test Page, we get an error
message stating that the print job could not be created. We have about 70
printers setup on there like this. We have deleted some of the printers and
their corresponding ports, but they still don't work. We have rebooted,
restarted the print spooler, etc. as well.
