I don't understandard Windows 2000 server how
difference "member server" and "stand alone server"?

Anyone can ans. me ?

The question is asked often enough and there seems to be a certain level of
confusion about which is what. The 2 labels refer to the security scope
involved.

A member server is a server that is a member of a domain. The implication is
that the member server's security is governed by a domain container.

A standalone server is operating in a Workgroup. Therefore, its entirely
responsible for its own security and unlike a domain, that security scope
does not extend beyond that system/box.

Thats a misconception, a standalone server is NOT a member server. Just like
a Workgroup is NOT a domain.
