Windows 2000 Server unresponsive

I have an Active Directory Windows 2000 Domain. I have just built a Windows
2000 SP4 member server. All seems normal logged on locally. However, when I
try to connect via Terminal Service client, it fails. If I try to connect to
the adminstrative share (\\servername\c$) this also fails. Attempting to
"Manage" via the manage my computer applet, this also fails. I am logged in
as the Domain Admin. What could cause this problem?

Yuck - the problems could be unrelated, but start with:

1. Make sure you have logged onto the domain and not the local machine.

2. Check Event Viewer - System and Applications.

3. Restart the Server service.

I am eating some humble pie right now...turns out that I have another device,
Jet Direct card that had the same IP address as my new server. I didn't
immediately get a warning about the duplicate IP as the Jet Direct card was
intermittently coming on and off line. I expect that once I change the IP on
the Jet Direct card, I should be good to go. Thanks for you help.

If you set the Jet Direct card back to its original state, DHCP, and set a
reservation in your DHCP scope, it will always get the same IP address and
you don't have to worry about IP conflicts with other statically assigned IP
devices. It also makes it easier to modify IP scopes should you ever need
to.
