Windows 2000 Server shuts down Backup Exec service

For some reason my Backup Exec installation in this Windows 2000
server keeps shutting down the Backup Exec service during backups
(sometimes it just shuts down in the middle of the night) which has
become VERY frustrating. How can I determine WHY this keeps happening?
I've been wrestling with this for many months now and none of the
ideas that Veritas has provided have fixed this issue (including
upgrading the BE program, new drivers, etc.)

Hi,

I've been running BE9.1 every night since APR2004 including two remote
agents and I have not seen this. What exact versions and service packs
are you running? What exact tape drive and SCSI controller and
associated drivers do you have? What does the event log say? If you
enabled full logging (which you must have done), at what point does it
crash - any pattern or is it totally random? If you run a test job with
no tape, does it A) Fail, B) Succeed ? If you run the same test job with
a tape in the drive does it A) Fail, B) Succeed ? Are there any errors
in your MSDE database, have you rebuilt it from scratch, which exact
services are crashing - all of them, or just some of them?

Hey,

What are the possible errror mesages in the event viewer.

Are you getiing a Dr watson error .Check the Drwatson log if any which will
help us identify on which executable is causing the application to fail.

Also ensure you have the updated SCSI drivers and also do confirm if you
have got successfull backup attempts.
