Windows 2000 Pro desktop

Ok, we're using a desktop to share the hard drive. This is what I
need to accomplish.

Me and one other person is to have admin rights with full control on
this drive. Everyone else needs to have read only access. I just
can't get this to work.

Any help would be appreciated.

This article shows how to set it up in Windows XP Professional:

I believe that Windows 2000 Professional works the same, except that
there's no "simple file sharing" in 2000.

On the Win2k Pro machine logon with an adminstrators account:

1. Create local user accounts which match the user names and passwords of
the other people who will be connecting to the shared drive.

2. Open Windows Explorer, right click on the drive, and select Sharing.

3. If you have not already created the share, click the New Share button,
enter the shared drive letter and click OK.

4. Click the Permissions button. Uncheck the boxes for Full Control and
Change for the Everyone group. Click the Add button, double click on your
user account and the 'other' person's account. Click OK. For your account
and the other person's check the Full Control box.
