Windows 2000 installation

Scooter

I purchased Windows 2000 Professional with the intention of
upgrading my Windows 98 system.

The W 2000 CD loads and then detects Norton Antivirus which
it turns off. Then the W 2000 installer reports that the
language is not the same as the installed language and
refuses to go any further.

I subsequently purchased W 2000 Upgrade pack for W 98. It
produced exactly the same result.

My language setting is English, and I have tried the UK, US
and Ireland language options all without success.

Before upgrade run win2k compatibility checker to ensure hardware is win2k
compatible.
Might be an idea to download win2k drivers to floppy/cd, its highly likely
you'll need video drivers at least.
A clean install is better than an upgrade for an o/s - ensure data is backed
up.You *will need* at least a firewall installed prior to connecting to
internet.
Win2k is more hardware/memory 'picky' than w98
