migration

I have a dual boot w98 and 2000 professional. I just installed Norton
Internet security on the w 98 section and of course it doesn't appear on the
2000. Can I re-install 2000 pro without hurting anything so that NIS will
migrate to 2000 pro?

A re install of win2k will do nothing to your NIS installation. I'm assuming
you dont mean changing to a single o/s. You would need to install NIS within
win2k.

Will it migrate if I do change to a single o/s? If so what is the procedure.
I am the captain on a boat and do not have the NIs disk on board, only the w2k
Thanks Bill

You cannot migrate/copy any app to an o/s.
If you do not have access to installation disks at this time, and you need
to use your win2k installation on line you can try downloading and
installing the free firewall, ZoneAlarm. Although I have my doubts that you
will be able to install it, or any other AV type app, as it will likely
detect the NIS installation. Multiple AV type apps cannot, in most cases,
coexist.
Personally, unless you have an overwhelming need for a dual boot sys, I
would at some stage perform a clean installation of win2k. You need to
backup all data as this process will destroy all, and insure you have all
Application installation disks.
