Windows 2000 backup reporting unrecognizable media

All of a sudden, when i try to run a backup, Windows 2000
is saying that the media i have inserted is
unrecognizable. The tapes are fine and i've even tried a
new one. I don't have the option to erase the tapes,
because it doesn't recognize them. Before, i would
shutdown and restart and it would work. But now, that
doesn't help. How do i fix this or has anyone found the
same problem. Its an oldish Seagate tape drive.

Mark,
See my post on May 23rd with a possible solution. I
was using a Seagate 4mmDSS tape drive also.
