My Firewall has shut off and I can't get back on. Went into Service.msc and
tried to start. Got an error 10047 An address comaptible with the requested
protocol was used. Could not strt windows/firewall/internet connection
sharing/cs service on local computer.

Please advice how to get the firewall enabled again.

I don't understand. I use a cable modem for email and internet service. How

Ok, my apologies i should have explained better.

Start
Run
Control Pannel
Click switch to clasic view in left hand pannel, should be at the top.
If you cant find it and your control panel is 80% white background then your
already there.
If its blue and ya cant find it still then just type Network Connections and
hit enter in that top web search looking bar there. will take ya right there.

You SHOULD see,

Local Area Connection under the LAN or High-Speed Internet catagory.
Right click it and left click properties.
Select the advanced tab in the top right.
put a check mark in the box labeled Protect my computer and yada yada.
Click ok and you have the windows built in firewall enabled on your internet
connection.

It looks like alot to do but its really only like 4 accual steps there :)

Hope this helps. If not shoot me an email at (e-mail address removed) and ill
see what other solutions i can come up with.

as I remember, that can happen after removing some spyware that affects the
LSP (Winsock).
in XP, there is no need to run the LSP fix (needed in any previous versions
of Windows), just go to start>run
type in
netsh winsock reset
you will then have to reboot for changes to take effect.
