XP with SP2

Trying to load Windows Firewall. Get the message "Windows cannot start the
Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service".

Go into Administrative Tools and try to manually start the service. Get the
message "Error 10047: An address incompatible with the requested protocol was
used."

I have the same problems that occured since I installed the new microsoft
spyware program this afternoon. I have since deleted the program but the
problem still persists not allowing me to turn on the firewall. I get the
same error message.

I found your message after I posted my problem on 1/10/05. I did the same
thing. Loaded the beta version of the Microsoft spyware. Same problems. I
tried to go back in time with System Restore but my system would not restore
with an earlier date. Will try some earlier dates to see if that works. Will
keep you posted. If that does not work , will dump an image on my system from
November to cure the problem.
