Window Live Mail Contacts -- cannot edit

I see similar problems on this forum, but not exactly what I am seeing.
I have Vista Home Premium with Windows Live Mail. I originall
downloaded my contacts from Outlook Express. I can see the contac
list. I can add new contacts and I can delete contacts. I cannot edi
contacts. When I bring up the Windows Live Contacts box (either b
double-clicking on the Contacts icon or following menu path Tools
Contacts) I get the list with all of the usual icons (New, Edi
Contact, Delete Contact, E-mail contacts, etc.). I can select
contact and click on Edit Contact and I get the Edit Contact box -- bu
I can't edit anything.

Please help
