Hello,

Since installing XP SP2, I can only have one IE6 browser window open at a
time; whenever a new window opens from a link, the previous windows shuts. I
can only go back by using the history pane. Can anyone advise please?

Thanks in advance

Hi,
From IE> Tools> Internet Options> Advanced> Browsing> uncheck "Reuse windows
for launching shortcuts."

And... you have a program running which is blocking pop-up windows-
something like Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, a firewall,
Earthlink (or another pop-up blocker) My IE2 (a shell for IE) etc.
Yahoo Companion is a very common cause.

You'll have to turn off the feature that's blocking new windows or, perhaps,
uninstall the program.

With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
a new window.

Hello Don,

Tried everything you suggested - had to get back to this page through
history taskpane again. I can only ever have 1 page at any time no matter
what the installed security program isl

thanks

Hi,
Try... From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third
party browser extensions." If that allows a second window to open, another
program is causing the problem.

Are you sure that Yahoo toolbar isn't listed under View> Toolbars?

You might try Internet Options> Security> Internet Zone> (reset to) Default
Level.

If you're *sure* that another program isn't causing this, these links may
help.
