Window Explorer wont open any files

Eveytime I double click a file, whatever default program opens it locks up on
me. Whether it be Word, or Print artist or whatever. However if I open the
program first, like Word for example, and open the file from there it works
fine. I just can't seem to open the file from Windows Explorer. Any ideas how
to fix this?

Thanks alot!

This hints at a (non-crippling) defect in the OS. Reinstallation
or repair offer one possible cure (taking less than 1 hour.)
Another test that takes 5 min. would be:
1. Remove DOC's association with MS Word completely
(from the File Association Table.)
2. Select (highlight) one DOC, hold down Shift and
Right Click for menu. Select from the menu
"Open with . . ." and click OK.
3. Select from the list MS Word.
4. Uncheck (if needed) the box "Always use this app. . . "
5. Click OK
then see if Word loads and opens the DOC.

If successful, repeat steps above except for #4. This
time check the box. Then reboot and see whether
this File Association (opening Word when you click
on a DOC icon) works OK. If so, you can repeat this
for the half-dozen other apps you use often.

If this does not work, you might as well reinstal or
repair the OS.

Hey, pretty classy, Don! I have a PC here with that same problem.
Tried this method & it worked out fine. Don't know WHY it works, but
.... assume corruption of some kind. I wasn't looking forward to
reloading the OS; no backups, no CD, etc. etc.; you know the type<g>.

HTH,

Twayne`
