Win7 Windows Mail running in taskman but no winmail window viewabl

Hello

Outlook 2007 installed,and working fine.
I needed to open winmail and found that it did not open.
Found it running in taskman, but there is no winmail program window available.
I have tried:
1)delete winmail reg entries
2)delete winmail storage folders
3)rename winmail.exe file
4)download mailclientmerge.reg to make winmail default
5)download wmutil to manipulate winmail folders/database

None of the above worked.
Specifically, the results of points above:
1)started winmail after deleting reg entries,just remade them,is all.
2)ditto for point 2
3)nothing happens when double click renamed winmail.exe
4)reg file merged fine, but still outlook remains as default program
5)wmutil did nothing for me.

Totally stumped!!!!

Please advise next course of action.
No, I dont want to use another program.
I needed to visually advise someone about adding signatures,but winmail did
not start.
Yes I could do an internet search, but that is not the point-winmail is
broken somehow and I wish to fix it.

Win7 doesn't include any default Mail Client, let alone Windows Mail. In
what folder do you find the executable named WINMAIL.EXE?

Or did you mean Vista in your post's subject?

Microsoft does not support running Windows Mail on a Windows 7
computer. That said, there is a hack that worked for me:
1. Rename the C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\ directory in Win7 to something else.
2. Copy that same-named directory (including its files) from a working Vista
computer and paste it to the Win7 computer.
3. Create a new shortcut from the WinMail.exe file.

Then after Windows Mail is installed on Windows 7, apply the two
registry fixes mentioned here:

Those registry fixes are only needed if you want Windows Mail to handle
all the default mail protocols. The fixes aren't needed to get basic mail
functionality.

Be aware that future Windows Updates may render WM inoperable in
Windows 7, as will running SFC.exe. For that reason I recommend also
installing Windows Live Mail, so you will have an immediate fallback
if WM fails.

I am running windows xp virtually in win 7. win xp has outlook express which
I use on my win 7 computer running win 7 ultimate 64 bit

Microsoft broke Windows Mail in Win7 and it won't work as in Vista unless
someone hacks the program. Others have copied the files from Vista and used
them in Win7, but Winmail in Win7, although present, is broken and will not
function as an application for the user.
