win2k slow

Joey

Well I'm sure this has been previously addressed but I missed it , sorry

I have done what I can think of , Virus, adware scans , updates and such.
but win2k is a turtle.
What I think is going on here is that there are 2 users running at the same
time ?.The default user and administrator. I did get, in word 98 a error
msage that the file I wanted to open was already being used by another user
until I installed word 2k3, then I stopped getting that error.
My Question\theory is this , if I can run only one user ( the administrator)
and not have MINE-OJUUF7R8R9\**** sign on would this help and if so how do I
do it or if I am so far off base here it causes fits of uncontrollable
hysterics can someone set me on the correct road to recovery. TIA Joe

Only one user (at a time) can logon to a workstation version operating
system. Check Event Viewer for errors. Check Device Manager for error codes
and or non-starting devices. You can use Task Manager and or Performance
Monitor to see what is consuming the mem/ cpu. A consistently positive "Mem
Delta" value may indicates a memory leak.
