Win2k Change computer from bus net to home net?

Guest

In win2k I use the network identification wizard and check the box "this
computer is not part of a business network" because I changed it to a work
group but the change does NOT take place. Help anyone? I suspect I need a
registry entry

Forget the "Wizards".

1. Properties of "My Computer"
2. Select "Network Identification" Tab
3. Click Properties Button
4. Change the Workgroup name to what you want it to be.
5. Will reboot to complete the process.

There is no such thing as a "home network" or a "business network" as far
as the machine is concerned. Those terms are only for "human consumption"
and cause nothing but confusion. Forget the "home network" terms and forget
the Wizards,...just set the workgrpup name as I instructed and the rest is
just a matter of having the right TCP/IP settings on the Network
Adapter,...which in most cases is to just leave it all set to Automatic.
