Win2K client on Win2k Server

M

Mark Durrenberger

I'm lost. Hope you all can help...

I have a win2k server set up as a domain controller running DNS and acting
as the DHCP host. I have a win2k pro client. The win2k pro client is not
running firewall software (at the moment) and I've disabled Norton.

the win2k client cannot seem to get an ip address from the server. Nor can
it see any of the other clients (or the server) in the domain (my network
places/entire network/microsoft windows network) I do see the domain
however.

If I give an IP address to the client, the client can ping the server, and
the server can ping the client.

If I try net view from the client (net view \\192.168.0.2) I get the error
"System error 5 has occurred." - no luck searching that one on Google.

If I try to connect to the shares from any machine on the net I get "network
path not found"

Thanks ,

Mark
