Odd Problem with W2K Server

Hello,

I've searched through the news messages available to me, but haven't
found a resolution to an issue I'm experiencing in my Win2K Server Domain.
The domain consists of a DC (Win2k Server) using AD, 3 member servers (1
Win2k Advanced Server and 2 Win2K Servers.. All member servers are running
SQL Server 2000). I have 8 WinXP SP2 clients and various printers on the
network.

I recently reinstalled our domain controller. A format was performed on
the drive and Win2K Server was installed/Configured. The problem symptoms
are: When logging into the domain from a client a security event appears on
the client (ID 537 Status Code 0xC000005E, Source: Security), but the login
is permitted. I also get, from various clients on the network an event
(Source = MrxSmb, event id 3019, but I doubt that multiple systems are all
having NIC/Cable problems only after re-installing the DC), and file copies
to the DC through Windows Explorer do not succeed. Copies are very slow to
the server, but copying from the server to a client is very quick.

Any ideas on solving this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you did not have a second DC on line when you formatted your DC, when you
reinstalled you created a new domain. Even if you named it the same, the SAM
is different. New SAM = new domain.

If this is correct you will have to remove your clients from the old domain
and add them to the new domain.

Sounds like your DNS is not set up correctly.

You are correct. I should have mentioned in my original post that I am
using a new domain name and joined each client/member server to the new
domain. New User accounts were created for all users in the new domain.

Thank you for the suggestion on the DNS. I will go back through and look at
the setup on that.
