Win2K boots to year 2005

When Win2K boots, the clock shows year 2005. I posted that and got a reply
to change the Cmos battery. I did that and it still boots to 2005. I can
reset the date but it always goes back to 2005 when I reboot.

Could this be some kind of malware? Any ideas?

test this:
start up the comp with a dos-boot-diskette
and change the date with the comand "date"
turn of the comp
restart the comp with the dos-doot-diskett and see
if the date is changed (with same comand).
if the date is change - the motherborad is faulier
