Win2000 won't complete boot

I have been having problems with my system running Win2000 Serv pack 4.0.
I had a crash and had to run a repair in the fast mode . It got me farther ,
I now have a system that goes through the whole boot process and stops at
The Windows 2000 screen with no progress made on “Starting Up†, it just sits
there. If you can help it would be greatly appreciated.
 
If it was my machine then I would reload Win2000, then
image it to protect myself against further mishaps.
