Win2000 has fallen and can't get up

Studiper than you

I know its a horrible virus but when I start up to Win2000
I get a message saying my user can't be loaded and a
temporary user is used.....everytime. All preferences for
all apps are wiped cleared. Everything opens to its
original default., including explorer (I was able to
locate my favorites in administrator.bak).

Is there anything I can do to get my user info back??

Bootup in safemode and run antivirus or removal software. Also look at
running adaware or similar.

Greetings --

Your original user profile has likely become corrupted or damaged.
Log in using the built-in Administrator account, and rename the
original profile folder. Then log in under your normal user name to
create a new profile. Finally, copy the contents of the Desktop, My
Documents, and Favorites folders under the old profile into the
corresponding locations in your new profile.
