hello,

when i'm trying to run the Windowsupdate, I always get the 0x80248011
error without any other explanation. Has someone an idea what causes the
problem??

You have to be careful when installing SP2. Some running programs have to be
closed and antivirus has to be uninstalled before installing SP2. I got the
same error message when installing SP2 with my antivirus left installed.
This second time I installed SP2 without the antivirus, it works great!

antivirus has to be uninstalled before installing SP2

"Uninstalled", or just shut down? I hate the thought of yanking the thing, but
if I have to I will.

I read that when SP2 is finally released the beta must be uninstalled
before installing the new one. That means that any programs installed
after SP2RC2 might not work. When I installed SP2RC2 I closed all
security programs before install and it worked fine.

The final release of the service pack #2 WILL install directly over the
RC's, so there will be no need to uninstall anything. Norton's will have a
patch that allows it to be recognized by SP2 when the final version of SP2
is released. SP2RC2 will NOT properly recognize Norton's yet no matter what
you install first. Not even the new, 2005 beta version of NAV.

That is because Norton has to make their software work with Security
Center, not the other way around. Norton is waiting until the WMI is
finalized before they bother making it compatible.

Also, it is true that SP2 RTM will install over any version of the beta
including RC1 and RC2 and all interim builds and refreshes (if any).

I am glad to hear that.

Actually, I was asking about antivirus programs. Must they be completely
uninstalled before installing SP2, or just disabled?
