Win Xp Repair loop problem

Hi All

I have a win xp machine connect to the internet that simply died. I supect
a virus. could not get a windows screen. So I started a Repair cycle with
the Win XP disk. Got to the point with the install wizard to completely
reformat ( Which I sould hev done) or do the repair. I chose repair. I get
various error messages in the process about missing Catlogue files or
something like lllfl file corupted.. when I restart with disk I cant get
out of the repair loop.... even to reformat! I was thinking about booting
from a Floopy start up disk like the old windows 95 method to gain control of
the CD.. But I dont know how to make a Win XP floopy and the down load files
on the site look to huge to be a floopy size boot up disk.

Anybody got any ideas!
