Repair setup is in a reboot loop!

I have done a repair install on my computer and now it continuosly reboots
and says restarting xp setup..then reboots. I have tried the repair numerous
times with the same error. I have taken an image of the disk and tried on
another pc/hardware and get the same. I have tried chkdsk /r , fixmbr, and
fixboot with the same luck i cannot reformat as there are programs that i no
longer have. Please help!!

You may have already lost some OS files...If formating & reinstall are not
an option,purchase a new hd,install xp to new,set old as slave once xp is
run-
ning,retrieve the critical files..New hds (good ones),are less than
100.00,most
can be had for 30-60.00
